Renewable Heat Premium Payment – good news for off-gas homeowners

In August 2011 the UK Government launched the Renewable Heat Premium Payment  scheme to support take-up of renewable energy heating systems such as the air and ground source heat pumps supplied by the Cambridge Renewable Energy Company.

Solar Thermal Hot Water

£300

Air Source Heat Pump

£850

Ground Source or Water Source Heat Pump

£1250

Biomass boiler

£950

The sums concerned are considerable, with all homeowners being eligible to receive the grant for solar thermal hot water, while the other grants are only available to households who are not connected to a mains gas supply.

The government have decided to back the installation of air and ground source heat pumps in “off gas” areas by providing an £850 grant and £1250 grant respectively called the Renewable Heat Premium Payment.

First come, first served

Managed by the Energy Saving Trust, The Renewable Heat Premium Payment scheme Phase 2 will run until 31 March 2013Click here for details of the scheme.

At TCREC, we can help with any enquiries and applications, attend site meetings, provide quotations off plan, and meet you or your clients on site or at our showrooms to demonstrate the technologies available.

MCS accredited suppliers only

To qualify for the grant, homeowners have to use equipment, suppliers and installers accredited by the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS). TCREC are fully MCS accredited (our number is NIC1297) and only supply equipment that also meets the requirement, so are ideally positioned to be your partner for sustainable development.

The renewable energy specialists

DaikinThe Cambridge Renewable Energy Company are the official Daikin service and commissioning partner for Daikin heat pumps and Solar PV for most areas of East Anglia and Lincolnshire. We’ve been established for over the 30 years and specialise in the supply and installation of heat pumps, air conditioning, Solar PV, Solar Thermal, Evaporative Water Cooling, Destratification fans, and heat recovery from air conditioning.

See the technology in action - locally at our Bar Hill Showroom

The Cambridge Renewable Energy Company has a fully working renewable energy showroom in Bar Hill, where you and your customers are welcome to visit 6 days a week (Mon –Fri 9-5.30 and Sat 9-12).
You can see fully working Daikin low temperature Altherma air-to-water heat pumps which provide hot water and heating to our kitchen, toilets, sinks and under-floor heating - providing savings of up to 50% on our energy bills.

Impington Show Home

ICS monoblockIn our show house in Impington, Cambridge, we have a fully installed ICS monoblock high temperature heat pump, fitted in a 1930’s detached house to provide all the heating and hot water at a maximum temperature of 65 degrees ºC. The unit is also fitted with the latest state of the art acoustic enclosure from our collection of acoustic enclosures which will reduce noise levels to comply with all planning requirements.

Savings in action

With 30 years of experience behind it, The Cambridge Renewable Energy Company have implemented many installations that are delivering enormous cost and efficiency savings to our clients.

We supply evaporative water coolers which  can reduce electrical energy consumption to just 10% of the requirement of traditional air conditioning - and have fitted out a server room in Cambridge and reduced their electricity bill for the air conditioning from £100,000 per annum to £10,000.

We have installed a similar system into a factory in Cambridge producing abrasive materials using furnaces to fuse the abrasives. Their problem was that they couldn’t lower the temperature in the factory below 38 ºC using conventional air conditioning: they now achieve temperatures of 24 ºC using 80% less energy.

We have heat recovery systems harvesting free energy from air conditioning which turns cold water into hot water at 65 ºC for free – and McDonalds restaurants are incorporating them into their outlets throughout the UK.
